- Family: Mint Family – Lamiaceae (Labiatae)
- Growing form: Annual herb. Rhizome creeping, dark, up to 30 cm long, 5 cm thick. Often forming large stands.
- Height: 10–40 cm. Stem branchless–branching, hollow, 4-edged, short-haired, sometimes glabrous, internodes at most a bit longer than leaves. With faintly unpleasant fragrance–almost without fragrance.
- Flowering time: July–September.

Field Woundwort (Staggerweed)
Also another light-flowered Stachys species possible Finland is annual. Field woundwort’s flowers are smaller (6–8 mm), reddish and its leaves are ovate (Stachys annua’s narrowly elliptic).
