Lily Family, Liliaceae
Members of the Lily family are monocotyledonous bulb plants, and globally the family is comprised of 16 genera and 700 species. Before the last genotype studies and the changes that were made on the basis of the information that was collected, the family was much larger, with 3,000 species that included daffodils, hyacinths, alliums and asparagus plants. The statistics regarding the Lily family in Finland are much more modest: 3 genera and 6 species when escapes from cultivation that have almost established themselves are included.
